It’s really common for people to get into a bit of a boggle with all the information out there about compliance, the HSE, levels of courses and awarding organisations.

Becoming A first Aid Instructor HSE

In part three I will share with you everything you need to know about the compliance side of becoming a first aid trainer.

Reading time: 7 minutes

In 2015 the HSE (Health and Safety Executive) withdrew their responsibilities of approving first aid training organisations. They gave employers several different routes to make sure that first aid training they use is suitable.

This change did leave some people confused at the time. Often new First Aid trainers still have questions about approvals.

At the time, many first aid trainers signed up with one of several new awarding organisations (AO’s) that came into the market. They did not realise that it is possible to achieve HSE compliance on courses without the additional paperwork and administration that this may involve.

Many AO’s require you to obtain a unique learner reference numbers (often chargeable), check their ID, pre-register courses, tests to be taken under exam conditions, organising an external marker to mark the exams, results of exams have to be filed online, not to mention the costly centre and trainer approval fees that often apply.

On the third day of our First Aid Instructor Course, one of our Training Managers
will guide you through more tips and pointers, and fully discuss the options available to you to keep your training compliant.

They’ll make sure you know everything you need to know about the many rules and regulations set out by the relevant authorities.
